The Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (RoHS) places restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical & electronic equipment sold into the EU after July 1st 2006.

These hazardous substances encompass the following items:

• Lead
  
• Mercury
  
• Cadmium
  
• Hexavalent chromium
  
• Polybrominated Biphenyls
  
• Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers
