Speedy gasket keeps Formula 1 car running

Customer Requirement:

A Formula 1 racing team had a very short time to test a modified engine before a race meeting. Due to a design error, the gasket they had would not fit the modified engine part, and a valuable testing slot looked like being missed.

Material:

Stainless steel with a special plating to enhance sealing properties.

Solution:

• PRECISION MICRO produced the parts from digital data received, made a photo tool, etched the new parts and had them plated within a few hours, enabling the test session to proceed on-time

Advantage

• Parts were produced quickly.
• Although low cost, the tooling was suitable for manufacturing larger production quantities.
• The components were burr and stress free and provided an excellent seal
